Containers....

Last week I surprised Havi and turned up to meet her for lunch. It was a real eye opener to the organized madness that is lunch for 100+ Kindergartners in an elementary school.

I also found out that she was having difficulty opening some of the containers I'd been sending her lunch in. We had practiced at home, but I guess these suckers were just being difficult. So I ran out and got some more of the ones she can open without having to flag down a teacher for help.

I highly recommend these - SISTEMA KLIP-IT - and you can find them at The Container Store or on Amazon.

While I was picking these up I also found this cute little no-spill cup - perfect for juice. So now, without the juice boxes, Havi truly does have a waste free lunch every day :-)

  1. Hey Kathryn!!
I love this blog!! So I went to the container store and bought one of the containers today. It was only $5, I was surprised! It holds a sandwich on one side and two compartments on the others for grapes, etc. Do you find it keeps her grapes/fruit cold? I bought a ice pack type container for her fruit but can't fit both containers in her lunch bag, so I'd like to just use the one I bought today.
I need to get more creative w/ her lunches but she insists (for now), she likes her shaped peanut butter sandwich, juice box, grapes with apples. Sigh ;-)

  2. Hey Clarice... I'm sorry! I didn't even realize there were any comments on the blog as I don't check into this email often! Ooops!
I actually purchased a little reusable ice pack at Target and I put it in a zip lock so it doesn't sweat everywhere. But with the insulated packed lunch container everything seems to stay cool - it's still cool when we pick her up 7 hours later.
I didn't get the container with the different compartments as I can totally imagine Havi opening the wrong way and losing everything to the floor!!! :-) I love this brand though... easy to open.
I wish Havi would eat peanut butter...
